Mollie Lieber West wears her cap and gown while standing and holding a piece of paper. West was on the committee to plan her year's graduation ceremony at Mundelein College and encouraged the school to choose a female commencement speaker, so she was given the honor of introducing the speaker. She earned her degree in Labor Education in two years, with credit from life and work experience, as well as knowledge of Yiddish.

Cesar Chavez, seated, speaks to individuals during his visit to Mundelein College in November 1979. His talk was part of a bilingual Eucharist to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the groundbreaking of the Skyscraper. Chavez was part of the California lettuce strike which sought to improve working conditions for migrant farm workers.
