Title

Match Day Flash Mob, 2015

Description

For the fourth-year medical students of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, Match Day is the most-anticipated event of the academic year. On Match Day 2015--Friday, March 20--the soon-to-be doctors learned where they will undertake their hospital residencies.

The 2015 event, themed Match to the Future, began at 10:30 a.m. with a flash mob dance to "Uptown Funk." Then Linda Brubaker, MD, dean and chief diversity officer, addressed students, families, faculty and staff in the packed atrium. At 11 a.m., each student retrieved a sealed envelope containing the assigned residency destination.

Match Day occurs on the third Friday of March each year at each of the medical schools in the United States that participate in the National Resident Matching Program. For students who have worked diligently to gain acceptance in medical school and complete the demanding training program, Match Day is highly emotional.

Congratulations to members of the Stritch Class of 2015 as they launch the next stage of their medical careers!
