Original caption: Zach Waickman, lab manager for the Searle Biodiesel Lab, works to produce hundreds of gallons of hand-sanitizer for Loyola's three campuses as students return to campus in the fall. When the COVID-19 pandemic sent students, faculty and staff home in March 2020, Waikman took advantage of a temporary FDA policy that allowed non-traditional manufacturers to develop sanitizer, which is proven to reduce pathogens when soap and water aren’t available.
