Memorials to Fr. Damen
There are many memorials to Fr. Damen in Chicago and one in his hometown in Holland.
- Damen Avenue, Chicago, Illinois – In 1927, the Chicago City Council voted to change the name of Robey Street on the city’s west side to Damen Avenue to honor the Jesuit priest. Robey Street was chosen because it crosses the Chicago River at the location where Jesuit missionary Fr. Pierre Marquette landed and spent the winter of 1674-1675. Damen Avenue stretches from Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood in the north down to Beverly on the south side.
- Pater Arnold Damenstraat, Etten-Leur, The Netherlands – there is a street named after Fr. Damen in his hometown in Holland.
"In these hurly burly times, people are losing sight of the spiritual things."
- Alderman Patrick O'Donnell, advocating for renaming Robey Street Damen Avenue, 1927
- Statues at Loyola University Chicago and at St. Ignatius College Prep (the original St. Ignatius College building)
- Damen Hall - a science building constructed on Loyola's Lake Shore Campus in 1966 and demolished in 2011
- Damen Student Center - the Loyola student union on the Lake Shore Campus opened on April 3, 2013
