Abstract

In her book, Hille Haker speaks out in favor of a radical correction of the course of Catholic social ethics. The volume focuses on three fundamental terms of ethics, which are concretized in different contexts: human rights, human dignity and moral responsibility, which is based on the interplay of emotional sympathy, solidarity and justice. Hille Haker advocates a historically and politically mediated ethics that will replace the ethics of natural law and, on the basis of critical hermeneutics, identify the historically and politically different positions of power, scope for action and responsibilities. The book leads to a discussion on the relationship between political theology and political ethics and the social-ethical implications for the further development of a critical political ethics .
