Michael J. Garanzini, S.J. (1948-)
President, 2001-2015
Father Garanzini became Loyola's 23rd president and CEO in June 2001. Inheriting financial troubles, Father Garanzini improved Loyola's financial footing significantly. During his tenure, Loyola saw significant growth in enrollment, making it one of the largest Catholic universities in the country. He oversaw the transformation of all four campuses, increased the university's global footprint, and re-energized the academic and campus life experience. In June 2015, Father Garanzini stepped down from his position to become Chancellor of the University. Father Garanzini has served as Secretary for Higher Education of the Society of Jesus and is currently the president of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU).
