James F. X. Hoeffer, S.J.

Under Father Hoeffer's direction, the college carried out numerous renovation and expansion projects. Father Hoeffer was also known for his oratorical ability. The Loyola Alumni Association was formed during his tenure. After relinquishing the presidency, Father Hoeffer went to St. Louis University, and then became Superior of Sacred Heart Church in Chicago. He died on October 14, 1914.
