Cross Country & Track
As with other women's sports at Loyola, the track & cross country teams began in the late 1970s. Under head coach Joe Kallas, both teams accomplished quite a bit in their first few years. In 1979, runners Elizabeth Shack and Teri Weber were sent to compete at the National Cross County meet, a first in Loyola's history. Two years later, the cross country team finished second at the IAIAW Division II state meet, with special honors again going to Shack and Weber.
Both teams have continued to break records at Loyola. Most recently, the cross country team sent redshirt senior Lindsey Brewis to the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships, were she finished 56th out of 255 in the women's 6K championship race. At the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track Meet in Feburary 2019, Brewis dominated the field, winning both the 3,000m & 5,000m races. The pair of titles from Brewis helped the Ramblers to a fifth place finish overall.
