Welcome to the Women's Athletics at Loyola digital exhibit. Sparked by the passing on Title IX in 1972, women's athletic teams at Loyola have been wildly successful. In the early years, women had opportunities to participate in basketball, volleyball, track and swimming. Currently the Athletic Department offers seven varsity sports for women: Basketball, Cross Country, Golf, Softball, Soccer, Track and Volleyball.
This exhibit looks back at the history of many of these women's varsity sports at Loyola. From their beginning at Loyola to their current successes, these teams have provided opportunities for women to participate in athletics at a high level.

This project was created by Olivia Fossier in 2019 using textual and photographic materials from the Loyola University Chicago Archives & Special Collections. This exhibit is a work in progress and will be added to over time.
