Pyxis of Ziyad ibn Aflah
Description
This ivory pyxis displays three medallions, each revealing a man who seems to be in high authority, with two attendants and an elephant. It has an inscription on the lid that reveals that the pyxis was made for Ziyad ibn Aflah, the prefect of police in Cordoba.
