More than 90 percent of Loyola's current faculty are laymen and the current student enrollment is 14,509. There are 38,000 Loyola alumni, and 27,000 of them live and work in the Chicago area.
In terms of service to the community, Loyola can be proud of her record:
- 11% of the practicing attorneys in the Chicago area are graduates of the law school.
- 20% of the physicians and surgeons of the entire metropolitan Chicago area are graduates of the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine.
- 28% of the Chicago area psychologists are graduates of the Graduate School.
- 30% of the nurses in administrative positions in hospitals and institutions in the Chicago area are graduates of the School of Nursing.
- 35% of the social workers in the Chicago area are Loyola graduates.
- 35% of the public elementary and high school principals employed by the Board of Education have studied at Loyola.
- 51% of the Chicagoland dentists are graduates of the Loyola University's School of Dentistry.
The true nature of Loyola University of Chicago is summed up by one of her alumni, Leo McGivena, class of '16, who wrote:
