Mass of Remembrance
During the month of November, Loyola University Chicago holds the annual Mass of Remembrance in memory of alumni, students, faculty, staff, family members, and benefactors. The Mass dates back to the annual Mass of the Dead at St. Ignatius College. In 1910 Loyola established the Cudahy Memorial Mass to honor benefactor Michael Cudahy (Cudahy Science Building) and his family. This service was held annually on November 27th and was eventually combined with the Mass of the Dead to become the Mass of Remembrance. Today attendees are welcome to bring a photograph of their deceased loved ones to place on the altar during the Mass.
