Mundelein Student Mobilization
With a growing counterculture and youth revolution developing in their midst, simple teach-ins did not satisfy the political aims of some Mundelein College students. Thirty Mundeleinites founded Student Mobilization, their school’s chapter of the national organization of the same name, to create a specifically antiwar presence on the North Side campus. The group expanded the teach-in concept by hosting the Mundelein Student Mobilization in 1968, a 10-day program of films, speakers, and peace vigils designed to create a space for students to voice their dissent with the American war.
